The Inca jungle to Machu Picchu is an alternative hike to Machu Picchu that combines all different types of adventure sports like mountain biking, riverraftinf, zip lining and it takes 3 days to get to Machu Picchu and Huayna picchu. The Inca Jungle route is the most popular tour among young travellers all around the world that come to Cusco in search of an adventure and extreme sports tour. DAY 1: CUSCO – MOUNTAIN BIKING – SANTA MARIA – PISPITAYOC

Machu Picchu Hike, will come pick you form you place of stay t 5:30 am to then embark on our 3 hours and a half road trip passing through different microclimates and beautiful landscapes along the Sacred Valley, thus arriving to the highest point Abra Malaga (4350 meters above sea level). This is the starting point that was chosen to start going downhill on our bike for 3 hours straight. While going downhill you will be able to appreciate the different ecosystems that characterize the andes and the jungle. This adventure ends in the village of Huamanmarka, where we till have our lunch. After lunch our journey continues to Santa Maria, where there is a possibility if any traveler wants to, to go river rafting in the Urubamba River (1200 meters above sea level) for 2 hours. Once this activity is over we will hop on our shuttle an. head to San Pablo, where we will start our 1 hour hike to our lodge where we will be spending our first night.

DAY 2: PISPITAYOC – HOT SPRINGS – SANTA TERESA – HIKE

On this day we will wake up at 7:00 am to enjoy our organic breakfast. This day we will start with a walk in the jungle observing the different varieties of plants and birds in the area such as, orchids, local fruits, coca leaves, cocoa, oranges, etc. reaching an altitude of 1720 meters above sea level. Throughout this journey we will hike part of the Inca Trail in the jungle with its fantastic panoramic views. We will then reach the village of Quellomayo, where we will enjoy a delicious lunch. After lunch we will continue our hike until we reach the hot springs of Santa Teresa (Cocal Mayo) Here we will have approximately 2 hours and a half to relax. At sunset we will continue with a 40 minute hike until we get to the town of Santa Teresa where we will be staying the night.

DAY 3. SANTA TERESA – HIDROELÉCTRICA –AGUAS CALIENTES (ZIPLINING IS OPTIONAL)

We will wake up really early to enjoy of our delicious breakfast and then continue with our hike. Prior to this trek our guide will give us the option of taking on some adventure sports (Ziplining or canopy, tour included) if you do not desire to take this option we will continue to hike until we reach Hidroelectirca, the control location and place where we will all have lunch together. After our break we will continue our hike until we get to the town of Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu) where we will have dinner and we will stay overnight.

DAY 4: VISIT THE INCA CITY OF MACHU PICCHU – CUSCO

Finally the day we’ve been all waiting for has arrived, in comparison to the other days, on this day we will wake up at 4:00 am to start our hike up the Inca city of Machu Picchu so we can see the sunrise at the top. The hike up will take us approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes. Once we get to Machu Picchu our guide will give a 2 hour tour around the most important archeological sites like: The Main Plaza (la Plaza Principal), The circular tower (la Torre Circular), The sun clock (el Reloj Solar), the royal rooms (los Cuartos Reales), the 3 windowed temple (el Templo de las Tres Ventanas), the royal cementeries (los Cementerios Reales) and many more. After the tour we will have free time to explore on our own, to take your best pictures and to just enjoy the beautiful scenery all around. At a convenient time we will take the bus down to the town of Aguas Calientes, where you will have all afternoon to enjoy a peaceful lunch and to visit the hot springs or to just walk around town and explore the craft markets. At 6:30 pm we will take the 2 hour train to Ollantaytsmbo, where our shuttle will be waiting for us to take us back to Cusco, we will get there around 10:30 pm.
