Our company Machu Picchu Hike – Travel Agency will pick you up from your place of stay around 1:15 pm and 1:30 pm to then continue with our visit to the following archeological sites:
Qoricancha’s Temple.- Its clear that the Qoricancha Temple (The sun’s house) was the richest in precious metals because gold and silver would be stored there, every one of the metals there were given as an offering to The City of the Sacred Temple. In the Incan times or (quechuas) all of these precious metals didn’t really have any economic value but what they did have was religious value, their perfect architecture and their stone structure reflect that it was one of most important enclosures of the Incan empire.
Sacsayhuaman.- In quechua Sacsayhuaman means “satisfied falcon”. They say that this falcon was the guardian bird for the Incan Empire. The “ceremonial construction” of Sacsayhuaman is located 3 km away from Cusco, every year there, on June 24th, they celebrate the sun’s party (Into Raymi) also known as “La Fiesta del Sol”
Qenqo.- In quechua Qenqo means “labyrinth” and it’s located 6 km way from Cusco. Because of its semicircular construction you can observe from the outside, this archeological site was qualified as an amphitheatre. In fact, the purpose of this construction is ignored since you can appreciate its ceremonial table, zigzag channels, niches, etc. that could’ve been used as an altar. It is said that Qenqo was one of the most important shrines that existed in Incan times.
Puca Pucara.- In quechua Puca Pucara means “Red fortress” it was named this due to its red coloured rocks at dusk, Puca Porta was an example of a military construction that was used to look over the valley of Cusco and every quechua road, this fort was made of large walls, terraces, and staircases that were part of the defense of Cusco in particular and the Incan Empire in general. Its construction is one of a rustic type that consists of streets, houses and patios.
Tambomachay.- Located 12 km from the City of Cusco, known as the bath of the Inca because of its aqueducts, canals and waterfalls that run through terraced rocks, and because of its water fountains there’s a possibility that Incas came here to worship water.

Once the visit here comes to an end we will head towards Salineras, the salt there has been acquired in Maras by the evaporation of salt water from a local undercurrent, there are more than 5000 salt wells administered by the town of the same name, actually this salt is treated for human consumption.
