This valley has very special qualities to the Incan culture, both climatic and geographical. The Incas or Quechuas transformed the sacred valley into one of the top agricultural production centers due to its rich lands. The Sacred Valley is one of the richest because of its mass production of the best grain of corn.

To start the Sacred Valley tour, our company, Machu Picchu Hike, will come pick you up from your hostal or place of staying at 08:10 am.

First we will drive until Corao, a craft market, after we’ll continue driving until Taray, where you can get a look of the Sacred Valley, and also Pisaq one of the many archological sites in Peru.  It has an impressive structure built in the period of the rise of the Incan Empire. Here you’ll be able to observe the great work achieved by the Incas, through endless agricultural terraces that virtually adorn all the mountains around. At the center of Pisaq’s temple, you’ll be able to observe an intiwatana, a notable ritual stone associated with the astronomic clock or calendar of the Inca in South America, and also fine buildings that were inhabited by the Incas 500 years ago.

After our visit to this ancient Incan city, we will visit the modern town of Pisaq, which is located on the right bank of the Urubamba river. It is populated almost entirely by Inca descendants.

Here we will visit a quaint artisan market, where we will be able to appreciate how even today everyone keeps the typical tradition going of exchanging their products, exactly how they did in the past. After that we will head to Urubamba to enjoy a typical lunch buffet at a tourist restaurant. Next we will continue our trip to Ollantaytambo where we will visit the majestic archaeological group that still remains. Subsequently we will head back to Cusco passing by Chinchero, a town rich in culture and archaeology, where we will also visit their typical market and archeological site.
