Day 1: Bus Cusco – Ollantaytambo – Train from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes
Our tour agency “Machu Picchu hike” will come pick you up from your place of staying at 9:30 am so we can start our 2 hour road trip to Ollantaytambo where you will catch a train. We will get there approximately at 12:00 pm and board the train that will take us to the town of Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu). The tour trip in Machu Picchu will last approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes. During your time on the train you will be able to appreciate the beautiful scenery the mountain range of the Andes has to offer and the traditional towns just at the door of it, with a variety of plants and trees next to the Urubamba River or Wilcamayu around the Sacred Valley.
We will be arriving at the town of Aguas Calientes somewhat between 2:45 pm, here our transport will be waiting for us so we can head to the hotel and after you will have free time to explore the town and the hot springs.
At night before you go to sleep you will receive general inforcmation from our guide (briefing) about the tour in Machu Picchu that will take place the next day so you can prepare for it.
Day 2: Tour in Machu Picchu – Return to Cusco.
We will wake up really early to enjoy our breakfast buffet, we will be picking you up at 6:00 am and take you to the bus station that will take you up to the archeological site of Machu Picchu. Here your 2 hour tour around the Inca city of Machu Picchu will start. We will visit the most important places of the sanctuary like: The Main Plaza (Plaza Principal), The Circular Tower (Torre Circular), The Sundial (Reloj Solar), The Royal Quartes (Cuartos Reales), The 3 Windowed Temple (Templo de las Tres Ventanas), The Royal Cementeries (Cementerios Reales) and many more. After this you will have time to explore on your own, to take your best pictures and just enjoy the amazing view that will surround you. At a convenient hour you will take the bus down back to Aguas Calientes. You will have all afternoon to have a peaceful lunch, visit the hot springs, walk around town or visit the craft markets. At 6:30 pm you will take a 2 hour the train back to Ollantaytambo, where a bus will pick you up and bring you back to Cusco, you’ll get there around 10:30 pm.
